#1 Song This Week One Year Ago: Adele - Send My Love (To Your New Lover) (1st and Only Week At #1)

Biggest DRRRRRRROP!!! Of The Week: Lady Gaga - The Cure (-16)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Hailee Steinfeld - Most Girls (+15)

New Entrants
- To start us off, we have the resurgence of Macklemore featuring newcomer Skylar Grey (who makes her first appearance on the countdown) with their single Glorious.  Macklemore has been around producing some great hits with Ryan lewis as a duo (Thrift Shop, Can't Hold Us, etc.).  The last time we saw him was back in 2015, when he released Downtown.  This year, the duo has disbanded and now Macklemore has become a solo artist.  Glorious is a bit toned down when compared to his previous hits, but he still does a good job with his rapping skills (unlike most mainstream rappers nowadays).  Skylar Grey does a great job with her vocals, also.  The lyrics are basically about feeling glorious and given the chance to start again.  Overall, it's a win for both Macklemore & Skylar Grey, and I hope it stays for a while.

- We have more Imagine Dragons, this time with Thunder.  I didn't quite like this at first, but with time (and more listens), I've grown to like it.  I like some of the lyrics (especially the line "Lighting then a thunder"), and I can't help but pull myself in.  While not quite as good as Believer, I'll certainly take this.

Blurb Me A Place Next To You
- I can't really say I'm going to miss our exits too much.  Two of them came from the Cyrus sisters.  First we have Stay Together, which I found to be an improvement over its predecessor, but didn't quite stick with me in the long run.  Then there's Malibu, which wasn't the big comeback hit Miley Cyrus was looking for.  I did like this to some degree unlike others, but I'm okay with it departing.

- Before introducing Just Hold On, Spyder Harrison mentioned that Steve Aoki has said that Louis Tomlinson's new album with blow people's minds.  Not much has been said about the album yet, but I'll bet it sounds really good.  Once it comes out, I'll have to take a listen.  Hopefully, he has a hit or two up his sleeve.

- It's nice to see Redbone dropping down to the Bottom 5.  Hopefully, it'll be on its way out soon.

- Speaking of drops, The Cure sadly took a New-York-Giants sized drop this week.  It won't be much longer with us, though it did quite well and spent a while in the Top 10, despite it not being big elsewhere.

- I want to scream at the fact that Play That Song is still here!  Whoever is still voting for this song needs to stop!

- So, the weekend countdown acutally paused for a moment to play the remix of Mono Mind - Save Me A Place.  I've heard this quite a few times this week, and I find this pretty cool.  I have a slight feeling it may become the next Welcome To The Black Parade, in which Hits 1 played it randomly throughout the week.

- AJR - Weak is officially annoying.  Get out.  Now.

- Before introducing It Ain't Me, Spyder Harrison mentioned that Selena Gomez has made a new track with rising EDM artist Marshmello, and she called it her favorite track.  Here's to hoping it's better than what she's been releasing lately.  Also, when Spyder Harrison mentioned Marshmello, it kinda reminded him of S'mores.  Um, you're kinda making me hungry for s'mores right now.

- Wow.  Are you seriously kidding me?!  Just when I thought Despacito was going to hit #1 here, it drops out of the Top 10 all of a sudden, which is very disappointing to see.  Hopefully, it recovers soon.

- And just like that, Most Girls recovered with that big New-York-Giants sized jump this week.  It's almost as if that huge drop from last week never happened.

- Castle On The Hill took a nice jump back into the Top 10 at #6, literally swapping places with Shape Of You.  Hits 1's love for Ed Sheeran isn't going away anytime soon despite these songs losing steam elsewhere.

- Body Like A Back Road jumping back into the Top 5 is a big fat NO-NO.  Stop the madness. Now.

- Finally, we come to our new #1!  And guess what?  It's from Charlie Puth who himself hosted last week's countdown.  Though Attention has been gaining steam in recent weeks, I didn't quite expect this to be #1, but I'll take it.  In fact, this is only the second time Charlie Puth hit #1 as a lead artist; the first was One Call Away, which happened last year in March.

Hit-Bound

The Revivalists - Wish I Knew You
Selena Gomez - Fetish
PRETTYMUCH - Would You Mind (DEBUT)
Justin Bieber featuring BloodPop - Friends (DEBUT)
Rita Ora - Your Song
Ed Sheeran - Galway Girl
Andy Grammer - Give Love
Harry Styles - Two Ghosts
Cheat Codes featuring Demi Lovato - No Promises
Halsey - Bad At Love
Portugal. The Man - Feel It Still
Zedd featuring Liam Payne - Get Low
Sabrina Carpenter - Why
The All-American Rejects - Sweat
Taylor Swift - Look What You Made Me Do (DEBUT)

- We have a quite a few new songs on Hit-Bound this week.  First, let's start with PRETTYMUCH - Would You Mind.  I definitely think this sounds pretty cool.  It kinda reminds me of a 90's R&B song, except there's a little more EDM added to it.

- Next, Justin Bieber is back for another round, this time with his new single titled Friends.  For those who are sick with either I'm The One or Despacito (or both) at this point (except me and a few others), this is something they can get into.  I'll have more to say when it debuts.

- Finally, we have the all important new song.  It's from Taylor Swift, who on Friday has released her lead single for her upcoming album Reputation, which is due out on November 10.  The song is called Look What You Made Me Do.  Not long after the departure of I Don't Wanna Live Forever, I had high expectations coming into the song.  And to say the least, she did not disappoint.  I'm intrigued by the darker and edgier direction she's going for in her new single, which could set the tone for her new album.  There's plenty of other good stuff I won't mention right now.  I'll have much more on this next week when it inevitably debuts.  But yeah, I'm definitely in love with this!

My Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks
1. Taylor Swift - Look What You Made Me Do
2. Ed Sheeran - Galway Girl
3. Halsey - Bad At Love
4. Justin Bieber featuring BloodPop - Friends
5. Cheat Codes featuring Demi Lovato - No Promises

#1 Song This Week One Year Ago: Cheap Thrills by Sia featuring Sean Paul [4th Of 5 Weeks At #1]

Biggest Drop Of The Week: 2U by David Guetta featuring Justin Bieber (-17)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Back To You by Louis Tomlinson featuring Bebe Rexha and Digital Farm Animals (+8)

New Entrants
- To kick off this week's entrants, we have Major Lazer with his new single Know No Better which features Travis Scott, Camila Cabello, and Quavo. Now, I haven't really listented to the song that much. I do think Camila has improved on her vocals, and Major Lazer does well with the EDM production. Overall, I don't have much of an opinion on it yet.

- Our second and final debut comes from Portugal. The Man with the song titled Feel It Still. This song is different compared to some of the other mainstream music  currently on the radio. Now, there are times the song is good, and there are times that it can be a little underwhelming. Maybe it'll grow on me at some point. I'll probably hear this in the car more often, given that it's currently gaining steam elsewhere.

Blurb It Still
- In terms of the exits this week, The Way I Are (Dance With Somebody) I did kinda like to some degree, but I'm not sad to see it off. Symphony, on the other hand, is a different story. I'm very heartbroken to see it leave after spending only one week. It's too bad that Clean Bandit couldn't get another hit in the US unlike Rockabye. I definitely enjoyed that song from the first listen and I felt it should've done better. Goodbye, Symphony. You will definitely be missed.

- On a more positive note, Shawn Mendes has managed to dethrone Despacito this week with his single There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back. Given that this song is still gaining steam elsewhere, I'm not quite as surprised. But I'm definitely happy that it hit #1 this week.

- It's also very pleasing to see Wild Thoughts enter the Top 5. It has a chance to hit #1 sometime in the near future. If only Hits 1 would treat it the same way like the AT40 is doing right now instead of having it drop big last week.

- I have a slight feeling this may be it for Now Or Never, what with it declining elsewhere (both on radio & in sales). I'm sure most people are thrilled about this given they're not very fond of that song. Since I don't really find that song to be that amazing either and it's fading on me, I don't really mind seeing it drop out of the Top 5. But honestly, I kinda thought Halsey would score another #1 hit on the charts. I guess not.

- Dang! 2U took a nasty drop out of the Top 20 and out of the Top 30 altogether. I guess this means David Guetta isn't going to have a hit even with Justin Bieber.
